Occupational Outlook of Machinist Trade

 

With the increase in the requirements for Machine tools with higher quality standards, the employment opportunities are also simultaneously on the rise in the world for the Machinists. Hence the demand for the machinists is so huge in Sri Lanka as well as in foreign countries, as a result. The possibilities to create Machinists with proper competencies have emerged to suit the international requirements through training courses that will be conducted according to the competency based training curriculum.

           

            Nonetheless the nature of the operations of the Machinist may change frequently; the fundamentals of the principles of the Machinist will not change. With the introduction of new methods, usage of modern equipment and the introduction of new standards the gradual development of qualitativeness is taking place in the Machinist trade by undergoing higher standard methods. The requirements of talented Machinists have gone up with the development of machinery accessories and equipment which are being used in building trade as well as in the manufacturing operations.

 

At present many types of machinery which are being controlled by the computers are also used in the trade. As such to engage in self-employment a well to obtain foreign jobs as well as in locally, work is easily available for well competent and talented Machinists.

Entry Qualifications

          1.      Passes in  six (6) Subjects  at G.C.E. (O/L) Examination and

          2.      Age should be between 17 and 29 years as on 01.01.2021
